We’re Colby and Renae, the husband-and-wife team behind Humble Abode, along with our two boys, Liam and Jude. Our story began long before we welcomed our first guests — in fact, it started when we got engaged on top of Castle Rock in Girraween National Park, just outside of Stanthorpe. We fell in love with the region during that trip, and ever since, Stanthorpe has held a special place in our hearts.
As our family grew, so did our love for travelling together. We found that some of our most meaningful memories came not from grand, once-in-a-lifetime trips, but from those simple weekends away — laughing over board games, exploring the countryside, or just slowing down together. That’s the heart of Humble Abode: creating spaces where families and friends can experience those same moments.
Our Family Touch
Humble Abode isn’t just a business to us — it’s something our whole family has a hand in. Liam has proudly helped paint walls, unbox crockery, and set up our homes (he takes his “quality checks” very seriously!). And while Jude is still little, we like to think of him as our tiniest team member, inspiring us to keep building a future filled with memory-making moments.
When we design or choose a property, we ask ourselves: Would we love to stay here as a family? That simple question guides everything we do, from the homes we create to the little details we fill them with.
